Canterbury, Elder, Gooch, Surratt, Shapiro & Stein, P.C. opened its doors on February 1, 1981 as Canterbury and Elder with four attorneys practicing primarily in the area of construction law. Today, the Firm has grown to more than 10 attorneys and has over 200 years of combined experience representing the legal interests of its clients on a local, state, and national level. Located in Dallas, Texas, many of the Firm's attorneys have substantial experience in complex construction litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
The Firm's primary practice area continues to be construction law and litigation. Many of the Firm's clients include general contractors, subcontractors, owners, sureties, and construction industry trade associations. However, our practice areas are not limited to construction law. The Firm has continually expanded into the areas of labor and employment law, real estate, corporate law, and business litigation.
Many of the Firm's attorneys are frequent speakers before national, state, and local construction industry associations in addition to various programs sponsored by the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas. Several Shareholders in the Firm serve as arbitrators and mediators through the American Arbitration Association.
